Typing In Chinese

Once you have Chinese installed , you can type in Chinese!  (Click here for MS setup instructions and Click here for Apple setup instructions) Apple Devices: On the soft keyboard, click the "regional globe" key (lower left on the soft keyboard). Type the hanyu pinyin for the word you want to type, followed by the tone.  For example, if you want to type 老 (lǎo), then type in "lao" followed by "3" (for third tone).   If the word that you want to type does not automatically appear, then look through the top of the available choices along the top of the soft keyboard.… click post to read more

On iMac (OS X): Open "System Preferences" and click "Languages and Text" Choose "Input Sources" from the top menu Choose "Chinese - Traditional Pinyin" to add a new keyboard Select the "Show Input Menu In Menu Bar" check box On Mac iPhone, iPad (iOS): Open "Settings" and click "General" Scroll down and choose “Keyboard" Click "International Keyboard" and click "Add New Keyboard" Choose "Chinese - Traditional Pinyin" to add a new keyboard You should now be able to switch languages using the "regional key" (lower left on the soft keyboard). Windows Chinese Typing Setup

In Windows Vista and Windows 7: Open "Region and Language" settings from Control Panel Choose the “Keyboards and Languages” tab and click on "Change keyboards..."
